The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community.
The Division of Youth and Family Justice (DYFJ) provides a wide range of services and programs for youth at every stage of the juvenile justice process. Our goals are to (a) build stronger and safer communities and advance public safety by preventing juveniles from entering the New York City's juvenile justice system, (b) provide therapeutic treatment and services to youth in our custodial care, and (c) help juveniles access the tools they need to leave the justice system for good. We strive to help families and young people by providing supportive services that are responsive to the needs of individual youth and families.
The Division of Youth and Family Justice is seeking a candidate to serve as the Executive Director of Programming for CTH (Close to Home) and NSD (Non-Secure Detention). This position is an integral member of the leadership team for ACS, one of the country’s premier children’s services agencies dedicated to strengthening NYC’s families and their 1.8 million children. The DYFJ Director of Programming for CTH & NSD with latitude for independent judgment and action to improve overall delivery of program services offered in CTH and NSD.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supervise, manage and oversee contracted providers, school operation, NSD (non-secure detention) day to day activities, and programs that are offered.
- Supervise and monitor the Program performance of NSD (non-secure detention) providers.
- Promote team building and skill development among NSD (non-secure detention) & School Liaisons staff
- Meet with contracted agencies monthly to support programming across CTH (close to home) & NSD (non-secure detention)
- Create relationships with community stakeholders to help bridge Gaia within the continuum
- Identify gaps in facility programming and work with providers to identify ways to close the gaps
- Work with DPPM (Division of Policy, Planning, and Measurement)on identifying corrective action plans/Heighten Monitoring in reference to programming in the facilities
- Work and collaborate with case management team, agency staff to identify programs available for youth in the facility and community (aftercare)
- Collect and track data around programming to identify trends and patterns that will help reduce idle time, data that shows what type of programs are happening at the sites and to improve overall quality of services
- Provide technical assistance around ways for stakeholders to improve quality of programming and to tailor services specific to youths in their facilities
- Collaborate with NSD and CTH home providers in finding programs/activities that are good fit for youth in their care
- Identifying deliverables and objectives for programs implemented
- Monitor on going performance and look for improvements
- Manage distribution of special event tickets and donations

ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR OF RES - 10016
1. A master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and four years of full-time, paid professional experience in a child care institution or in group work with children in a child care setting, including two years in an administrative capacity; or
2. A master's degree from an accredited college in sociology, psychology, education, public administration or a closely related field, and five years of full-time paid professional experience as described in "1" above including two years in an administrative capacity; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have two years of administrative experience in a child care setting.
